This third annual retreat will focus on experiencing Nicaragua, its culture, its people, its soul. In a nutshell, it's a true vacation to a unique and extraordinary destination. Peter is generously donating the proceeds from this retreat to karmaNICA, a charitable organization which he established with Adrienne Ward to support the Costa Sur Community on the shores of Lake Nicaragua.

The program for the week will include a variety of cultural, culinary and wellness activities for the traveler who seeks uncommon, less-traveled destinations.  This time away will provide you with an opportunity to savor the tastes of local, organic food, experience the culture of the colonial city of Granada and immerse yourself in the natural environment of the Granada Isletas in the serene setting of Lake Nicaragua. Also included are daily yoga sessions led by Peter designed to shift from the busy-ness of our everyday lives into a peaceful respite, embracing the Nicaraguan rhythm of life.

The 4-night/5-day travel experience will include 1 night in the historical city of Granada, followed by 3 nights at Jicaro Island Ecolodge, located a short boat ride away on a private island in Lake Nicaragua. This secluded island getaway is Nicaragua’s most upscale nature resort, with 9 private, lakefront casitas and an intimate outdoor restaurant, saltwater pool and open-air wellness spa. Indulge in a range of excursions to nearby volcanoes, nature hikes, lake kayaking, jungle canopy (zipline) tours, and natural hot-springs.

Peter Sterios is an internationally recognized yoga instructor, writer, and former contributing editor for Yoga Journal. His teaching reflects over 35 years of study and practice in the US and India. He lives and teaches in San Luis Obispo, California.  His first yoga DVD "Gravity & Grace", was recognized in the “Top 15 Yoga Videos of All Time” by YOGA JOURNAL magazine in 2009. He is the founder and former CEO of Manduka, a leading eco yoga products company in Los Angeles, California. In April 2011, he was one of 12 instructors selected to teach yoga at the White House for Michelle Obama's "Get Up and Go Initiative" to fight childhood obesity. Also in 2011, Peter co-founded karmaNICA, a charitable organization to help build a school classroom and playground for impoverished kids in Costa Sur, Nicaragua.
