Nicaragua New Years Retreat 2011

Hatha yoga is a tool for meeting resistance in our bodies and thoughts in a productive way. How one approaches the practice determines the quality yoga brings to our lives.

By minimizing unnecessary effort and focusing attention into the subtle forces of Gravity and Grace, the voice of the inner teacher is uncovered. Gravity is simply the force of attraction between physical bodies. Grace is a dynamic within the body which occurs at a level deeper than the physical, from a universal spirit or higher intelligence that is there when surrender is present. This appears as mental control is released and replaced by inspiration. This understanding helps us cultivate a truly personal practice and the wisdom borne of our own experience.

During this 5 day program, classes will be progressive (step-by-step) in nature and appropriate for all levels.

The AM classes (daily) will be 2.5 hours in duration and include a dynamic asana practice, with a guided relaxation and meditation, followed by a short discussion for clarifying practice techniques.

The PM classes (daily) will be 2 hours in duration and include a passive asana practice  followed by a Pranayama practice and guided meditation.

The after dinner programs ( 3 nights only) will cover the following topics: (1st night) – Introduction to Gravity & Grace - theory/practice principals; (3rd night) – adjustments & therapeutic yoga applications; (5th night) – creating and integrating a personal practice within other styles of yoga.
